And wait until you see how fast they can make a fantastic cappuccino while they work around each other and the pastry chef delivering hot delicious goodies. It is a ballet in motion.

My hope is that when you go to Venice, you spend your time like I do, just wandering around. The best times of day are the early morning and late at night when there are few tourist (sorry no offense). Also the lighting and colors change over the day so these are the best time for making pictures.
Please learn a bit of Italian. It will serve you well. The locals will appreciate your attempt even if you slaughter the language. After all they have tolerated me for 30+ years.
