What to do if you have only 3 days in Venice, from the moment you arrive at the airport or the train station or Piazzale Roma. The tips I use to buy my vaporetto pass, book my visits to the Basilica San Marco (because no matter how many times I go to Venice, I always visit the Basilica). How to get a skip-the-line pass to the Museums and why you need the Museum pass.
Then there are some of my favorite bars (not the same as the US, a bar is just where we all grab a coffee – or something stronger if you need it) and a tramezzini (a cute triangle shaped sandwich minus the crusts), a cheese toast or a quick snack. There are also my favorite pasticceria. I make no apologies, Dal Mas is my absolute favorite. And wait until you see how fast they can make a fantastic cappuccino while they work around each other and the pastry chef delivering hot delicious goodies. It is a ballet in motion.

My hope is that when you go to Venice, you spend your time like I do, just wandering around. The best times of day are the early morning and late at night when there are few tourist (sorry no offense). Also the lighting and colors change over the day so these are the best time for making pictures.
Please learn a bit of Italian. It will serve you well. The locals will appreciate your attempt even if you slaughter the language. After all they have tolerated me for 30+ years.

Love this story! Thank you for sharing. I almost fell like I was there! 🙂
Thanks Daniel, that’s my goal. Venice is my second home, but first in my heart!
Take me with you next time! LOL 🙂
You can buy the beadshop and I will! !
I read your 3 days in Venice. I went to Venice in May with my son. He was not feeling well so I brought food to him in our Airbnb . I went for a walk, I wandered bought a boat ticket went to Murano and Burano. It was wonderful! Nine and a half hours later I am back in Venice. Lost and with dead cell phone. I know I am staying near the train station. I go and ask a wonderful young lady in the ticket office with my meager Italian how to get back there. She gives me directions which boat station and where to exit. It was another adventure. So it is after dark and I walk into the Airbnb, my son says mom a walk is a couple of hours not 9 and a half hours. He was not worried because he knew even with my limited language abilities I would find friends and return . I would return to Venice at anytime it is magical.
Sounds like the perfect trip (apart from your son being sick). Venice reveals itself around each corner and getting “lost” in Venice is a great opportunity to enjoy it. And it is by and large safe. I never fear walking home late at night. So glad you got to enjoy a little of my favorite place on earth.
